Disney has announced the leads for its new Aladdin live remake at the D23 Expo on Saturday.
Newcomer Mena Massoud has joined the cast as the title character Aladdin, and Power Rangers star Naomi Scott will be playing Princess Jasmine. Will Smith has also been tapped to play the Genie.
Massoud, a relatively new actor with Egyptian-Canadian background, has appeared in television shows such as The 99 and Open Heart.

The studio was reportedly having difficulties in finding an actor to play Aladdin, with over 2,000 people tested for the role. Disney is also still looking to fill the villain roles Jafar and Iago.
The film, which is set to begin its production stage in August, will be directed by Guy Ritchie (Sherlock Holmes, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword). The script is written by John August (Big Fish, Frankenweenie), while Jonathan Eirich takes on the executive producer position.
