Hit series House of Cards will return for its sixth and last season without Kevin Spacey, Netflix has confirmed.
The season will run for just eight episodes instead of the usual 13, Netflix content chief Ted Sarandos said on Monday at the UBS Global Media and Communications Conference.
The announcement came after Netflix severed its ties with Kevin Spacey, the leading actor of the series who has been accused of multiple counts of sexual misconduct and assault.
“We’re very excited we were able to come to a good creative conclusion to the show,” said Sarandos. However, it has not been confirmed how Spacey’s character, Frank Underwood, is going to be treated in the show, or whether the season will be released next year.
It is expected that Robin Wright, who plays US president and Frank’s wife Claire Underwood, will be the main star of the season.
