The Galaxy Note 7 scandal has not crushed Samsung’s brand image, it seems. The electronics giant confirmed that US pre-orders for Samsung S8 and S8+ have topped their predecessor, S7, by 30 per cent.
“The Galaxy S8 and S8+ are a result of that recommitment and the market has responded – with a more than 30 percent year-over-year growth in pre-orders versus the record pre-orders we had with Galaxy S7, making it our best ever,” Samsung Electronics America president and chief operating officer Tim Baxter said.
The company did not provide the exact numbers or confirm which of the S8 is selling better.
Last year, Samsung conducted a global recall for Galaxy Note 7 phones after reports of device explosions.
